Its the psycological aspect which makes it so hard to watch and ultimately so effective. Its probably the darkest film I've ever seen with no humour, no sense of hope and an ending which really is quite stunning. Not a particularly ‘enjoyable’ watch but certainly a must see for horror fans.

What's interesting about finchers se7en is there was no actual live violence depicted. Martyrs on the other hand is described to be gore beyond gore times more.
